Alcohol consumers beware

THE Regulatory Compliance Board (RCB) has reminded the public that public areas are not drinking places.

In an operation Sunday night, September 15, the RCB, along with the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) and the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA), implemented City Ordinance 5133-55 and a memorandum circular of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) that prohibits drinking or consuming alcoholic liquor or beverages in parks, roads, alleys, or sidewalks.

RCB chairperson lawyer Edgardo Uy said they caught one minor drinking an intoxicating beverage in Pueblo area.

Among the areas visited were along Corrales Avenue, Pueblo de Oro Township, Taguanao Bridge, and Rotonda.

Business establishment operators along Corrales Avenue were also informed to clear the sidewalks of vehicles or motorcycles and to properly designate parking areas for their customers.

"Ato lang pahinumduman ang mga business establishments nga subayon ang ordinansa mahitungod sa intoxicating beverages, especially sa minors kay makadaot gyud sa ilang kaugmaon. Kung naay mopalit, please ask for their IDs. Kung walay ID, ayaw nalang baligya-e," Uy said.

Uy also reminded parents to monitor their children closely.
