DAVAO City’s Southeast Asian (SEA) Games 2015 double bronze medalist Maiquel Jawn “Mikee” Teh Selga confirmed she made it to the national wakeboard and waterski team for the upcoming 30th edition of the biennial games to be held in the Philippines.

The 19-year-old Malayan Colleges Mindanao (MCM) multi-media arts freshman, however, won’t be competing in the boat-pulled women’s open wakeboard.

She will instead show her wares in waterski, particularly trick ski event.

“Part napo ako sa national team pero different type of sport po pero in line with wakeboarding parin. It’s called trick ski,” she said.

She continued, “Trick ski is still like wakeboarding but the board is thinner.”

Selga has started training at Deca Wakeboard Park Davao at Deca Homes Resort Residences (DHRR) in Barangay Tacunan, Tugbok District.

She hopes to get permission from MCM to train at the Deca Clark Wakeboard Park one month before the 30th SEA Games 2019 slated November 30 to December 11.

The eldest daughter of architect Michael Anthony and Pretty added that her national team coach already negotiated with Deca Wakeboard Park Davao for her to undergo her training while in Davao City.

With a thinner board, she said that it would be “more difficult” for her but she is more than willing to learn and give her best to train.

She will also be provided with the trick ski board.
