INTRODUCING the co-living concept to Cebu is Nomad’s Hub Co-Living (Hostel), a first in the city that aims to redefine work and relaxation by offering both in one place, 24/7. It was founded by friends Stevens Chan Navera, Kenny Tiu and Mar Carlo Tuico, established last June 25.
Co-living, in a nutshell, is a concept that entails a productive environment combined with a living space, in order to provide convenience for its patrons. Nomad’s Hub is one such place that offers both; A two-storey property with a co-working area on the ground level and a hostel upstairs, with a reception area built for all intents and purposes from receiving mail to keeping track of employees’ hours on behalf of companies, to name a few.
The dorm-type hostel has mixed gender rooms and an all-female room with a total of 54 bunk beds. Each come with power outlets and storage for one’s valuables. By bunking at Nomad’s, the accommodation is inclusive of a free meal, shower and an all-access pass to the co-working space and all that comes with it.
The co-working space offers hourly, daily and monthly rates. It has one conference room and an open-space setting that seats 36, with inclusions apart from power outlets like free-flowing coffee and iced tea; internet connection with speeds up to 500 mbps; and access to the lazy lounge where guests can sit comfortably on bean bags, and if the mood strikes, take a quick nap—not a long one, that’s reserved for the hostel.
The hostel not only offers daily but also monthly rates, which is where the co-living concept comes in. By staying in the same place one is working at, it lessens the inconvenience of having to commute to get to one’s working area when it’s just one floor below. The kitchen is also open 24/7, serving all-day breakfast.
“They get to rest, re-energize and become productive again. We’re pushing the co-living concept in Cebu,” explained Stevens.
With this convenience, Nomad’s Hub also aims to build an avenue for networking among the creatives who are doing their respective jobs, leaving room for potential collaborations. Hence, the place has a community board filled with job opportunities, posting of upcoming events and seminars.
Also, spearheaded by Mar, the team intends to present an app soon for its patrons where they’ll eventually read up on the latest postings on events and other news, as well as give them easy access to the place and its future branches. The intention is to branch out to cater to more people working remotely. Pretty soon, it will also promote tours around Cebu in partnership with travel agencies as a way to showcase the city to tourists.
