City offers flu shots for senior citizens workers, barangay officials

THE Iloilo City Government, through City Health Office (CHO), will give free flu vaccine immunization to senior citizen barangay officials and city employees starting September 24 at Penthouse 2 of City Hall.

Mayor Jerry Treñas issued Memorandum Order CMO19-116 dated September 18, 2019 for the conduct of immunization.

“We want to protect our community and reduce the risk of flu-associated illnesses, especially to senior citizens who are the vulnerable ones,” he said.

All senior citizen barangay officials, including punong barangay, barangay kagawad, treasurer, secretary and tanod commander, and all senior citizen employees of the City Government will be vaccinated on September 24 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

CHO medical officer IV Dr. Annabelle Tang said the mayor specifically instructed to prioritize elderly employees and aging barangay officials because of their susceptibility to disease.

Personnel of CHO will administer the shots.

Non-senior citizen barangay officials will be accommodated from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on September 24 and 25.

City Government employees who are not yet senior citizens can avail themselves of the flu vaccine on September 25 to 26 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (PR)
