Gunman kills micro-finance official

A MICRO-FINANCE official was shot and killed in a robbery hold-up in the hinterlands of Zamboanga del Norte, the police said Wednesday, September 18.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said the incident occurred around 2:25 p.m. Tuesday in Luzvilla Village, Piñan, Zamboanga del Norte.

Galvez identified the victim as Nur-Fahad Kahal Sahi, 29, the assistant branch manager of ASA Philippines Foundation and a resident of Purok 2 in Taluksangay Village, Zamboanga City.

Sahi was collecting cash remittance in Luzvilla Village and was shot by an unidentified gunman while the victim was aboard a motorcycle returning to downtown Piñan, Galvez added.

She said the victim was hit in the chest and died instantaneously.

The police officer said recovered from the crime scene was an empty shell of a 9-mm pistol as well as the motorcycle and wrist watch of Sahi. Also recovered from the victim’s pocket was P12,610 cash.

However, she said that Sahi’s sling bag containing undetermined amount of remittance money, cellular phone and wallet were missing. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
