Man hurt in stabbing in Bacolod



A 22-YEAR-OLD man was injured after he was stabbed by his neighbor in Villa Otto, Barangay Vista Alegre, Bacolod City Tuesday evening, September 17.

Police identified the victim as John Joseph Catan, 22.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office, said the victim was on his way home when his neighbor. Jean Claude Gabata, 31, blocked his way around 11:20 p.m.

He said Catan tried to escape, but Gabata chased him and stabbed him several times for unknown reason.

The victim sustained multiple wounds and was brought to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center, while the suspect fled.

An hour after, Pico said the suspect voluntarily surrendered to his relative and was endorsed to Police Station 7.

He said the suspect is detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 7 and is facing charges.
