Damage to Pampanga infra hit P82-M

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Damages to infrastructure facilities in the towns in Pampanga’s second district have reached P82 million according to the latest report of the Pampanga Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRMMO).

The PDRRMO cited a report from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Second District Engineering Office where four second district towns registered various damages to their flood protection structures.

Floridablanca town sustained most of the damage to slope protection in Barangay San Pedro along the Gumain River and the linear canal in Barangay Valdez amounting to P17 million. The slope protection in Barangay San Nicolas in Lubao town along the Sasmuan-Lubao Road also sustained damage worth P20 million.

Damaged slope protection works in Guagua and Santa Rita towns were also recorded at P40 million and P5 million, respectively.

The PDRRMO also reported that 40 Pampanga villages are currently in floodwater due to the monsoon rains and high tide. Some 15 villages in Macabebe town and 17 villages in Masantol have been in floodwater for the past three weeks.

There are also five flooded barangays in Apalit and three flooded villages in San Simon.

The DPWH Second District Office is reportedly set to conduct rehabilitation activities on the said damaged infrastructures. (With reports from Princess Clea Arcellaz)
