A FRIEND once told me – one secret to a happy life is eating healthy food.

This claim is entirely true. Another fact is while there truth in this claim, still scarcity of accessible restaurants offering healthy meals remains.

In Davao City, there has been a surge of dining spots offering healthy options recently. This, after many restaurant owners and entrepreneurs recognized that healthy food options rise to become the choice of Dabawenyos nowadays.

But common problem shared by most healthy diners is – lack of restaurants that offer delicious yet nutritious dishes. As what many of my friends put it, you can’t always have both. It has always been nutritious but not delicious or the other way around.

To be honest, I am not health conscious when it comes to food. I am always that type of person that eats whatever is/are served in front of me. When Park Inn by Radisson Davao team invited me over lunch for their new RBG Hearty Bowls, I had this preconceived notion influenced by my friends’ experience on healthy food.

But, it wasn’t the case when I tried their four new bowls: Salmon Bowl, Beef Bowl, Chicken Bowl, and Veggie Bowl. Who says delicious yet nutritious grubs is impossible? These four no-guilt foods are sure worth a try and perfect treat to be shared among family and friends no matter what the occasion is.

Each bowl is a healthy mix of meat, veggies or greens, and rice (a variety of brown rice, black rice, and quinoa). The colorful bowls are the ideal diet for the health-conscious as calories range from 294kcal to 681kcal only.

My personal favorite is the Salmon Bowl. I paired it with Zesty Cooler with calamansi, ginger and Lipton Yellow Label Tea. Other healthy sip pairs include Lemon Punch with lemon grass, calamansi, celery, and honey; and Mint Detox drink with mint leaves, calamansi, and cucumber.

RBG Hearty Bowls is available at P450 per bowl, and the Healthy Sip Pairs at P120 per glass. Yes, it’s expensive for a bowl that is usually sold at P100 in a fast-food chain but, if you’ll really think of it, you’re actually investing for your health.
