'Death' of PMA cadet from Oro under probe

A CADET of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) from Cagayan de Oro died while inside the PMA barracks in Baguio City.

Initial investigation revealed that at 1 a.m. Wednesday, September 18, PMA Cadet 4 Class Darwin Dormitorio, 20, a resident of Canitoan, Cagayan de Oro City, had started vomiting and complained of stomachache.

Around 4 a.m., he was brought to the PMA Station Hospital but was pronounced dead at 5:15 a.m.

Cardiac arrest secondary to internal hemorrhage was said to be the cause of Dormitorio's death.

The PMA, in a statement said, Dormitorio is a "treasured cadet of the PMA community."

The PMA also assured that Dormitorio's death is being investigated to ascertain the cause and details of his death.

"PMA assures the public that every cadet's overall well-being is constantly and systematically being considered in every aspect of education and training," it said.

The statement was signed by Major Reynan Afan, the PMA's Acting Chief of Public Affairs Office.
