CEBUANO basketball legend Dondon Hontiveros will join Cebu media in the 2019 Press Freedom Trail Run on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019.
The Cebu City councilor and Philippine Basketball Association great Hontiveros will serve as the emcee for the sporting event.
Hontiveros, known as Cebuano Hotshot, was part of the country’s men’s basketball national team, the Gilas Pilipinas. He played for the San Miguel Beermen, Air21 and Alaska Aces in his stellar 16-year pro career.
Hontiveros’ last call of duty was with the Alab Pilipinas in the 2017 Asean Basketball League before he called it a career.
The media practitioners will take a quick break from chasing news when they compete in the 3-kilometer trail run. The 3K course is designed by fitness coach Alan Choachuy and his Metafit Team.
The run, exclusive for Cebu media workers and sponsors, will start and end near the Cebu Holdings Building beside the City Sports Club-Cebu.
Gun start is at 7 a.m. The registration will start at 6 a.m.
Registration is free but the runners are encouraged to come early since the shirt is limited only to the first 119 registrants.
The runners will be treated to a boodle fight with lechon (roasted pig) after the run. There will be raffle prizes as well.
The Press Freedom Trail Run is in line with the 27th Cebu Press Freedom Week celebration from Sept. 14 to 21. (RSC)
