Baby Webmasters net 3rd straight win in Cesafi

THE reigning high school champions University of Cebu (UC) Baby Webmasters claimed their third win in a row as they downed the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Baby Wildcats, 65-60, in the 2019 Cesafi basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum on Saturday, September 21, 2019.

Pushed to the limit by a resilient Baby Wildcats squad, the Baby Webmasters held their ground and put CIT-U away, thanks to a shotclock-beating three-pointer by guard Kenyon Pondoc with just 33.6 seconds remaining in the game that raised their lead to seven, 65-58.

Daniel Lapiz led UC with 16 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals. The Baby Webmasters also got solid contributions from Maczi Micutuan who had nine points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals, and Isaiah Blanco who tallied six points, eight boards, two assists and two steals.

CIT-U has now dropped its last two games after winning its season opener.

Meanwhile in the first game, the Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles evened up their record at 1-1 after defeating the Don Bosco Greywolves, 69-59. Athletic guard Mike Boniel had a field day as he produced 25 points and pulled down an astounding 14 boards to go with three steals.

LA Casinillo chipped in 12 markers while Ariel Dinglasan added 10.
