THE University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters have won their second game in a row, after crushing the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars, 81-64, in the 2019 Cesafi men’s basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum on Saturday, September 21, 2019.

After opening the season with two tough losses, UC has gotten back up quite nicely, beating the defending champions University of the Visayas last weekend before dominating the young Jaguars to even their record up at 2-2.

UC was just up by two after the first period, 19-17, but cranked up their defense in the second and limited USJ-R to just six points while reserve guard Jasper Pacaña racked up seven straight points to close that stretch to give the Webmasters a 36-23 halftime lead.

Things just turned from bad to worse for USJ-R as UC guard Paul Galinato scorched the nets for four three-pointers in the third that brought the Webmasters’ lead to 18, 62-44, at the end of the third.

The fourth period turned into a cakewalk for UC as their reserves, led by Pacaña, raised the lead to a high of 31, 79-48, before cruising to the win.

Tosh Sesay and Galinato led UC with 17 points, the former adding 15 rebounds. Court general Shane Menina added 16 points, six boards and six assists. Pacaña came off the bench and scored 14.

USJ-R on the other hand, have dropped their last two games to fall to 1-2. Renz Solomon led the Jaguars in scoring with 11 points. (SunStar Cebu)
