Wipro Tigers bag biggest win in E-Leagues

THE Wipro Tigers captured its biggest win of the season so far as it swung the upset ax on the Concentrix Converters, 61-59, in the Elite Classic division of the Tanduay Athletics E-Leagues for Basketball Season 15 at the City Sports Club-Cebu basketball court on Saturday, September 21, 2019.

Khristian Villaspin scored a booming three-pointer right before the final buzzer sounded to give Wipro the exciting victory and improve its slate to 3-5 (win-loss).

However, it was former University of San Carlos standout Earvin Dennis Ferraren, who carried most of the load for the Tigers as piled up 13 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. Andrew Gervacio added 11 points, while Joseph Saquin completed his own double-double with 10 points and 11 boards to go with two blocks, one assist and a steal.

Lourenz Limpangog fired 12 points but the Converters saw their two-game winning run come to an end to fall to 4-5.

In the other Elite Classic match, the reigning champions Sykes Pioneers claimed another win, beating the Teleperformance Vipers, 79-70, to tighten their hold of the top spot.

Janjan Auditor posted another brilliant performance as he piled up 32 points, six boards and two assists as the Pioneers stayed undefeated after eight games.

In the EVO League, the Optum Knights scored a big upset after they downed the previously unbeaten Contact Solutions Flying Lemurs, 65-60.

Al De Los Santos led four Optum players in twin digits with 15 points and also added eight boards and three assists. Nicole John Sultan put in 14 points, Melvin Campecino added 11 and Rome Dominic Densing contributed 10 in the Knights' sixth win in eight games.

Jason Bancale and Joey Lucky Juntilla each tallied 12 points for the Flying Lemurs, who stumbled for the first time after a 6-0 start.

The Executive Boutique SVC Bulldogs picked up their fifth win in eight outings by routing the Shearwater Health Crusaders, 98-62. Andrew Hilvano led the charge for the Bulldogs with 24 points while also putting bug numbers was Aristotle Alcos, who fired 22 points.

Yvesse Suan and Ricky Espanueva also wound up in double figures with 18 and 10 markers, respectively.

The other EVO League match saw the Amazon Aces (6-3) defeat the Fluor Pandas (4-4), 84-72. (SunStar Cebu)
