PDEA, Nocppo conduct inspection at San Carlos seaport

POLICE and anti-narcotics agents conducted a cargo inspection at the San Carlos City Seaport on Saturday, September 21, but found no traces of illegal drugs.

The inspection was conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (Nocppo), K9 and Interdiction Unit led by Agent Amory Introleso under the direct supervision of Provincial Officer Nicolas C. Gomez, and the Philippine Coast Guard.

Arriving passengers and ro-ro buses from Toledo City were inspected during the operation as part of an effort to deter and seal-off entry points of illegal drug smuggling into the province.

K9 and Interdiction Operation in the city will be conducted regularly in seaports and Ceres Bus terminals, PDEA said.

Meanwhile, PDEA-Nocppo has joined Serbisyo Malasakit at Escalante City.

The event was participated by the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Health, Department of Education, Department of Labor and Employment, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, National Bureau of Investigation, non-government organizations, Land Transportation Office, Philippine Statistics Authority, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Philippine National Police from San Carlos City, Calatrava, Toboso, Don Salvador, and Escalante City.

The program was held in support of attaining inclusive and sustainable peace between the government and the identified CTG-influenced and CTG-affected barangays where about 3,000 former rebels reside.
