Guv given go signal to sign outsourcing deal

THE Provincial Board (PB) approved Monday, September 23, two separate resolutions authorizing Governor Gwendolyn Garcia to enter into contract with LBP Services Corp. on behalf of the Capitol.

The Manila-based firm has stood as the lowest responsive bidder for the P259.6-million contract to supply the Capitol with medical and non-medical personnel.

The approved resolutions were filed by PB Members Raul Bacaltos of Cebu’s First District and Edsel Galeos of Cebu’s Second District.

The move to outsource manpower came after the governor announced that her administration would outsource the Capitol’s employees to cut costs and downsize the “overstaffed” health institutions in Cebu Province.

The Province’s outsourcing project has a total approved budget of P259.6 million, covering 12 months worth of services.

Of the amount, the Capitol has set aside P176.6 million and P82.9 million to cover the services of 443 medical workers and 359 non-medical personnel, respectively.

The medical personnel that the Province needs are 120 nurses, 108 medical officers, 83 nursing attendants, 32 laboratory aides, 25 medical technologists, 18 midwives, 18 medical laboratory technicians, 13 pharmacists, nine medical equipment technicians, nine dental aides, six medical specialists and two nutritionists.

For the non-medical staff, those that would be outsourced include 84 utility workers, 49 clerks, 44 agricultural technologists and 27 drivers, among others.

Once the contract is signed, the medical and non-medical personnel can start serving the Provincial Government on October 1. (SunStar Cebu)
