GLLO facilitates towns' legislative concerns

THE Governor's Legislative Liaison Office (GLLO) has gathered town council secretaries in Misamis Oriental in a hotel in Cagayan de Oro City to facilitate and address their legislative concerns.

GLLO consultant and former provincial board member President Elipe said the gathering has equipped and helped Municipal Council secretaries effectively prepare their ordinances and resolutions so it will get approval of the Provincial Board (PB).

The PB reviews the municipal ordinances before they are implemented.

The GLLO is a separate office created to channel and facilitate all legislative matters in the province. Elipe already introduced GLLO to the municipal mayors and vice-mayors.

Elipe said it has been observed that the PB sometimes return the town's ordinances and resolutions because of some errors in the document.

"Gihimo kini sa GLLO aron ma-facilitate ug ma address ang mga legislative concerns aron dili magbalik-balik ang mga documents sa munisipyo nga makalangan sa implementation," Elipe said.

The GLLO initiated the activity not just to maintain the working relationship of the Municipal Council secretaries and the PB but also to assist them on how to be efficient in performing their legislative tasks.

The participants include town secretaries of Medina, Talisayan, Balingoan, Kinoguitan, Sugbongcogon, Binuangan, Lagonglong, Claveria, Balingasag, Jasaan, Opol, Alubijid, Gitagum, Libertad, Naawan, Manticao, Lugait and El Salvador City.

Among those who gave inputs are representatives of the provincial legal office who shared about legal functions, budget office who talked about appropriation ordinances, and Board Member Vincent Pelaez, who chaired the committees on laws and rules.

"At least nalipay ang mga SB secretaries nga napaabot nila ilang mga concerns," Elipe said. (Alwen Saliring)
