IT WAS an enchanted garden that guests walked into when they attended the 18th birthday party of Gail Naomi “Micmic” Tan at the Grand Convention Center. Beautiful blooms, lush greens and shimmering fairy lights provided the perfect backdrop for the grand celebration hosted by the debutante’s doting parents, Dr. Gerry and Nancy Tan.
Gail looked enchanting in her pretty pink gown with a flowing train accented by beaded appliques. She was beaming as she made her way to the piano to play her favorite piece “Flower Dance.” It was a happy and memorable day for the lovely debutante and her loving family.
Resorts World Manila (RWM), the integrated resort-township across Ninoy Aquino International Airport - Terminal 3, marked a decade of fruitful existence with a two-night concert featuring the one and only, Lea Salonga. Since it was the 10th anniversary, the concert celebration was called the “Perfect Ten.” Venue was the Newport Performing Arts Theatre in the complex.
As top producer of RWM, Angelita Dy of Grand Hope Travel was given the privilege of bringing friends to the concert, and she promptly invited a group of the city’s travel movers. Rolling out the red carpet for the Cebu delegation were Kathy Mercado, RWM senior director-hotel sales and marketing, and Ina Abogada, Travel Trade assistant manager.
As expected, Lea mesmerized her audience with her songs, as well as her anecdotes and asides. Most applauded was her performance with Michael K. Lee, who had starred with her in past shows. And then there was her daughter Nicole, who is turning out to be a chip off the old block. Other guests included Esang Torres from “The Voice Kids” and Tanya Manalang who recently played Kim in the recent West End revival of “Miss Saigon.” Providing the accompaniment was the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Lea’s brother, Gerard Salonga.
