THE three cadets who were hospitalized due to suspected hazing injuries are all in stable condition, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) spokesperson Brigadier General Edgard Arevalo said.
"Sa ngayon po tatlo ang naka-confine na Fourth Class cadets sa ospital na hinihinalang biktima ng maltreatment," Arevalo said Wednesday, September 25.
"Ang isa po sa tatlong iyon, naka-confine po sa St. Luke's Global, ang dahilan po ay may mga further test na kailangang gawin sa kaniya. Ang importante po, all of them are in stable condition," he added.
This cadet has to undergo pancreatic tests, Arevalo said.
Of the three cadets, two were rushed to the hospital on September 17, a day before Cadet 4th Class Darwin Dormitorio died of cardiac arrest secondary to internal hemorrhage.
Another cadet was brought to the hospital on September 21. The attending physicians said the cadet sustained marks of possible maltreatment.
The death of Dormitorio due to hazing, which is prohibited by law, prompted PMA superintendent Ronnie Evangelista and Cadet Corps commandant Bartolome Bacarro to resign.
Four other PMA officials were relieved pending the investigation on the incident.
Three cadets, who have been charged for involvement in the hazing that led to Dormitorio's death, have been recommended for dismissal from the academy. (SunStar Philippines)
