Church leaders lead National Family Week activities

LEADERS from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Tacloban City held a press conference Tuesday, September 24, to announce its various activities in observance of the 27th National Family Week.

In attendance were Jumer Operio, 1st counselor, stake president; David Mendros, 2nd counselor, stake president; Eulalia Pulga and Jordan Villarmino, Area Temple and Family History consultant; and Joy Alban, counselor to the Mission President.

During the event, church leaders also toured the local media to its Family History and Genealogy facility.

The Philippines Area of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is celebrating this year's National Family Week from September 21-28 with the theme "#BFF: Building Forever Families."

According to the Civil Service Commission, the National Family Week aims to "strengthen the Filipino family unity and relationship through meaningful celebration and promotion of Filipino values."

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through its Family Search arm recently turned over some 14 million digitized documents ranging from birth, marriage and death certificates and Catholic church records covering 400 years (from 1614-2014) to the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines led by Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles.
