“On the economic impact, PAMPI has also claimed that the ban could result to a 10-15 percent reduction in the value of their annual production. This is not true because the volume that will no longer be served by Luzon, due to the ban, can readily be supplied by local processors in Cebu, where there are four big players who are also members of PAMPI,” tipik sa pamahayag sa kooperatiba.

Matod sa maong grupo nga maka-supply sila sa 85% sa local demand samtang ang 15% mamahimong mapulihan kini sa ubang karne susama sa manok ug baboy, “Cebu does not source pork and live hogs supply from Luzon. We mostly source from other provinces in Visayas and Mindanao like Bohol and Negros.”

“There are at least 150,000 Cebuano families who are directly dependent on swine raising and are at risk of losing their livelihood should we fail to stop ASF from entering our territory,” tipik sa maong pamahayag.

Tumong ra sa maong grupo nga maprotektahan ang lokal nga hog industry ug matod nila dili kini isip usa ka organisasyon nga gusto apan isip miyembro sa ASF Task Force sa Cebu Provicial Government.

“We are very grateful for the immediate support we got from Governor Gwen Garcia who stayed firm on her decisions and is very active in making sure that all the Executive Orders she issued are implemented accross the boarders, despite the pressures.” (HBL)
