Duterte to ‘ninja’ cops: Everybody dies but you’ll go first

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday, September 25, renewed his stern warning against policemen involved in illegal drugs, telling them that they would soon be gone as a punishment for their wrongful act.

Duterte’s latest pronouncement came after the Senate allowed the release of identities of ranking police officers who are allegedly involved in the recycling and sale of illegal narcotics seized from drug offenders.

“You know, we’re trying to make this world a better one. It’s not easy. People are sometimes swayed by just an appeal. They can be made to obey by just giving the advice,” the President said during the Golden Topper corporate launch in Pasay City.

“But there are some people, like policemen, you have to beg then they arrest. At it again, and they sell drugs and they go scot-free and they think that they are the lords of this country. Well, I’m sorry to tell you, everybody dies in this world but you will go ahead first. Remember that,” he added.

On Tuesday, September 24, the National Capital Region Police Office released a diagram showing at least 18 “ninja cops” who have supposed links to Manila’s so-called drug queen Guia Gomez Castro.

Ninja cops refer to police officers who steal illegal substances seized in legitimate anti-narcotics operations for resell to drug users or drug traffickers.

Senator Christopher Lawrence Go on Tuesday said Duterte would “soon” announce the names of policemen involved in the recycling and selling of illegal drugs.

The President, however, did not divulge the identities of ninja cops in his latest speech.

But Duterte made it clear that he would not tolerate the proliferation of illegal drugs in the country.

He likewise emphasized anew that drug offenders would face death, as he continues his resolve to curb illegal drugs and despite the United Nations’s intent to probe his crackdown on narcotics trade.

“May I just say and I have repeated it several times that if you go into drugs, if you’re a drug lord, or if I catch you importing or manufacturing drugs in this country and you destroy my country in the process, I will kill you. Make no doubt about it,” he said.

“Even with the United Nations listening, I will kill you period. I don’t mind. I can throw your... Pasig River is big enough to accommodate 10 people every time you throw them or the sharks of Manila Bay are getting hungry. They are not well fed and a human flesh would fatten them, I suppose,” Duterte added. (SunStar Philippines)
