AS A teacher for 16 years, I have realized that if I want my students to become successful in life, I should not be assigning them to find corals in the sea but should teach them the infinite vastness of the sea to keep them seeking the beauty of the entire sea. I can be effective by allowing my students to feel and use imaginative ways to ignite their curiosity to learn more. That is my understanding of the art of teaching. But how about the students’ views on effective teaching?

Mohammad Odeh, a first-year student from Jordan said that teachers are effective when they have a friendly attitude to their students because it creates a healthy environment. Also, he added that when the difficult concepts are presented light, it becomes more interesting to them. It is like learning the difficult thing in an easy way and that they can use the knowledge in their practical life.

While, Euneece Olbes, first-year AB Communication student shared that teachers are effective when they go out of their way to help students understand the lesson, making sure that there is no confusion among them. To Olbes, teachers are also effective when they do not simply just read off their slides or notes, but rather explain the lesson creatively.

Lastly, Danah Mae Malinay, an AB Psychology student thinks that an effective teacher is when they know how to connect with their students. She also added that an effective teacher knows how to understand and relate to the various behavior of students they may encounter.

I can see that student’s perspective with what a good teacher varies. But what is conclusive to their point of views is that teachers should possess motherly attitudes to provide the best of everything for her children.
