‘BaCura’ festival set in Zambo jail

THE Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) is undertaking preparations for the holding of the Banana-Curacha (BaCura) Festival 2019 at the Zamboanga City Jail (ZCJ).

Chief Inspector Nathaniel Aljas, ZCJ warden, said the BaCura festival will showcase different banana and curacha cuisines as well as the cooking skills and talents of the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL).

Aljas said the activity, which will be held at the ZCJ compound, is part of their participation in the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.

The Zamboanga Hermosa Festival is being held every October and its highlight is the feast day of Our Lady of the Pillar on October 12.

Aljas said the BaCura Festival will also feature cultural dance presentations that will showcase the different tribes in the region and other Zamboanga Hermosa Festival-related activities.

He said the BaCura Festival will see the participation of the family members of the PDLs and BJMP personnel.

He said other guests, to include city government officials, will be invited to witness the BaCura Festival.

The BaCura Festival is the fourth activity that will be held at the ZCJ compound in relation to the celebration of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.

The first was the Curacha Festival; second, Satti Festival; and, Banana Festival. (SunStar Philippines)
