Bacolod to recommend 8 villages to be declared ‘drug cleared’

THE City Government of Bacolod will recommend eight more villages to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Western Visayas to be declared “drug cleared” villages in the city.

Executive Assistant Samuel Montoyo, focal person of City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Cadac), said Thursday, September 26, they are now preparing the documents to be submitted to the PDEA-Western Visayas for a validation.

These are Barangays 13, 23, 33, 37, 41, Mandalagan, Montevista, and Pahanocoy.

Montoyo said in previous months, the list of Barangays 13, 23, 41, Montevista and Pahanocoy were already submitted to the PDEA-Western Visayas, but failed to qualify to be declared as “drug cleared” villages.

He said the chiefs of the said villages are really interested to be declared as “drug cleared” barangays.

The Regional Oversight Committee and PDEA earlier declared barangays 15, 17, 18, and 24 as “drug cleared”.

In 2018, of 61 villages in Bacolod, only Barangay 5 has been declared drug cleared.

Montoyo said on October 28, the Regional Oversight Committee will hold a meeting to validate the eight villages in Bacolod.

“Our village chiefs are now preparing all the documents and they will wait for the validation,” he said.

He added they are hopeful that more barangays in Bacolod will be declared drug-free. (MAP)
