THE Yanson Group of Bus Companies that owns the Vallacar Transit Inc. (VTI), the biggest transport company in the country will not join the nationwide transport strike on Monday, September 30.

Jade Seballos, public relations officer of VTI, said that it will be a normal operation for all the company’s Ceres buses here in Negros Occidental and other routes all over the country.

The company she said has already implemented the modernization program of their fleets in 2014.

“Our buses now are already equipped with closed circuit TV (CCTV) and Ground Positioning System (GPS). Some of Ceres buses have comfort rooms inside.

“We will not join the strike,” Seballos said. Meanwhile Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said yesterday that he is backing the Public Transport Modernization Program of the government.

“There are several jeepneys that really need to be modernized. I hope the government would find ways to assist the drivers and operators to modernize,” Lacson said.

He said that since bigger bus companies like Ceres are not joining the transport strike, they will make assessments on how the said transport strike could affect the capitol employees on Monday.

Lacson also said he is hoping that there would be some interventions that would happen between now until before Monday so that the scheduled strike would be called off. (TDE)
