A TWO-STORY, four-classroom school building is poised to make learning more enjoyable for Kindergarten to Grade 12 (K to 12) students of San Agustin Integrated School (SAIS) - Annex in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

The school building, which is a corporate social responsibility project of AboitizPower, Aboitiz Foundation, and San Fernando Electric Light and Power Company (SFELAPCO), broke ground on September 17, and is slated for completion next year.

SAIS currently has only one building with six classrooms that cater to 385 students. With the limited number of classrooms, students are forced to have morning and afternoon shifts, thus reducing their time for learning.

“We are thankful to our partners that with this new school building, students are given the opportunity to enjoy learning through better facilities,” SAIS School Principal Mario Deraco, Jr. said during the groundbreaking ceremony.

For his part, City of San Fernando Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin also expressed his gratitude to AboitizPower, Aboitiz Foundation, and SFELAPCO.

“The city government welcomes you, Aboitiz. Your presence here is a great thing to show concern for the people of Fernandinos. We would like to thank AboitizPower, Aboitiz Foundation, and SFELAPCO. These companies really do well in helping people and uplifting their standard of living,” Lazatin said.

The project is also supported by the local government of the City of San Fernando and the Department of Education (DepEd) City of San Fernando Division.

The strong partnership among various stakeholders played a key role in the inception and implementation of this project. For Juan Alejandro Aboitiz, AboitizPower First Vice President for Energy Trading and Sales, “This project is another step towards our commitment to creating value through strong partnerships. Community projects such as this exemplify the way we do business – honest, collaborative, and in ways that are sustainable to the communities we serve.”

AboitizPower is the holding company for the Aboitiz Group’s investments in power generation, distribution, and retail electricity services. It advances business and communities by providing reliable and ample power supply at a reasonable and competitive price, and with the least adverse effects on the environment and host communities.

The company is one of the largest power producers in the Philippines with a balanced portfolio of assets located across the country. It is a major producer of Cleanergy, its brand for clean and renewable energy with several hydroelectric, geothermal and solar power generation facilities. It also has thermal power plants in its generation portfolio to support the baseload and peak energy demands of the country.

The company also owns distribution utilities that operate in high-growth areas in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, including the second and third largest private utilities in the country. (PR)
