THE Cordillera Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council is awaiting results of the investigation by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on the landslide that occurred along Marcos Highway in Tuba, Benguet on September 25.

Major James Acod, Tuba Municipal Police Office chief, said the landslide occurred at 6 p.m., when falling rocks hit a passing jeepney, hurting three passengers and forcing authorities to close both lanes of the Marcos Highway going in and out of Baguio City.

"The event that transpired on September 25 along Marcos Hiway was very surprising because that area was full of trees but as of our latest information, the area was identified to be of loose soil, meaning there were movements on top of the area which we are now letting the DPWH being investigated and evaluated through the use of a drone once the weather permits," said Albert Mogol, regional director of the Office of the Civil Defense-Cordillera.

The public was earlier advised to take the Naguilian Road or the Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual Road when going to or exiting Baguio City.

The road was earlier opened after clearing operations.

Kennon Road, meanwhile, remains closed to traffic, except for the residents, due to rain-induced landslides.
