2 men deny killing business partner

THE two business partners of ambush-slay victim Jeffrey Gomonit told the police that they had nothing to do with the latter’s murder on Sunday night, Sept. 22, 2019.

They visited the Mabolo Police Station on Thursday, Sept. 26 to give their statements, admitting that they were the ones who had a meeting with Gomonit before the victim was shot dead by riding-in-tandem assailants in Barangay Mabolo.

Cebu City Police Office Director Gemma Vinluan said the two business partners were the last persons that the victim had met in a mall in Mandaue City.

However, the two persons were released because there was no sufficient evidence against them.

Vinluan said Gomonit’s business partners denied the speculations about their possible involvement in the murder.

“We only asked them to visit the police station because they were the primary persons of interest based on the last conversations on the phone they had with the victim,” she said.

Vinluan ordered the investigators of Mabolo Police Station to find evidence and charge the mastermind.

According to Gomonit’s wife, someone owes the victim a huge debt. The wife believes this could be the reason behind her husband’s murder. (from AYB of Superbalita/RSR)
