Guv to take back Province-owned lots

AFTER it had regained ownership of a prime lot on Salinas Drive in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City and five access roads to the Cebu Asiatown IT Park, the Provincial Government has now taken steps to retrieve its other properties.

Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia on Wednesday, Sept.25, 2019 said her administration will not dispose of any real estate properties to boost the Capitol’s assets.

“As far as practicable, we are not selling, we are not donating, we are not disposing of any of our provincial properties. Instead, those that have been given away, sold or disposed of in any other manner, I shall take steps to retrieve those properties,” she said.

On Sept. 16, the Provincial Board had passed, on unanimous motion, a resolution authorizing Garcia to take initial steps to recover Province-owned properties that were “illegally” disposed of during the previous administration.

The measure was filed by PB Member John Ismael Borgonia (Cebu, 3rd) who heads the committee on provincial and municipal properties.

Garcia said they have already sent copies of the approved resolution to all entities occupying Province-owned properties as part of Capitol’s inventory and review of the manner by which these were disposed of. (RTF)
