Lady Knights blank Medvil Black

LADY Knights Football Club (FC) crushed Medvil Black, 4-0, to stretch its lead in the team standings of the Acosta Cup 2010 20/20 9v9 Football Tournament at the Tionko grounds on Saturday.

Mally Ang scored the match's opening goal in the 15th minute, before Simone Jaldon (19th), Lomalyn Fama (29th) and Merlo Albano (35th) completed the rout against the hapless Medvil Black.

In other matches, Holy Child beat Medvil Blue, 3-0, while the Philippine Women's College (PWC) blasted University of the Philippines (UP) Alumnae FC, 7-0.

Medvil Blue striker Rheeza Camenade broke the ice in the sixth minute but Holy Child's Jerika Cantilla countered in the eighth to force a 1-1 standoff.

But Medvil Blue couldn't be denied its day on the field as Janewar Cuizon found the net in the 27th minute and Karen Paulino scored on the 39th to seal the victory.

PWC's scorers were Alvin Rose Pardillo, Cherry Vilchez, and July Bunac, who hit for three goals.

With the win, the Lady Knights is leading standings with a four-win, zero-draw and one-loss record.

UP Mindanao Varsity (3-1-1), PWC (3-1-1), Holy Child (3-0-2), Medvil Black (3-3-3), Medvil Blue (0-1-3) and UP Alumnae FC (0-1-4) are occupying the next six places of the meet co-presented by Davao City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte and Councilor Mabel Sunga Acosta. Noel Presto is the tournament commissioner.

The event is organized by the Davao Football Association (DFA) in coordination with the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office with RDL Pharmaceutical Lab Inc., Jollibee JTC Davao, and MY Hotel as sponsors.

Matches will resume on Saturday.
