PHILMETAL Products Inc., one of the country's pioneers in delivering global-class quality building products, recently received its new certificate for the innovative Galvaframe System during the Accreditation of Innovative Technologies for Housing (Aitech) ceremony.

The ceremony was held at the HTREX Bldg., NHA Compound in Diliman, Quezon City and was attended by officers from Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council, Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board, Department of Public Works and Highways and other attached government agencies.

Aitech is an inter-agency committee that reviews and accredits different kinds of technologies, materials and systems.

A light gauge steel frame system, Galvaframe has been recognized by Aitech as a durable, economical, and easy to install innovation for the past two years.

The Galvaframe steel framing system has also been accredited as one of the housing technologies that respond to the needs and requirements of the National Housing Authority for mass housing projects that require resiliency against typhoons and earthquakes, which the country regularly experiences.

Galvaframe's structural stability comes from its core material made from premium Galvalume 55. Recently, Galvalume 55 has been awarded the industry's one and only PS Mark in the hot-dip AL/ZN metallic coated steel by the Dept of Trade and Industry.

Aitech guest of honor, Atty. Angelito F. Aguila, emphasized the importance of durability, strength, resiliency, affordability and adaptive quality for building materials to address climate change and the evolving needs of Filipinos, especially for seismic protection and storm resistance.

Evaluation of committee member agencies are based on compliance to housing standards based on BP 220, PD 957 and the National Building Code, Fire Code, BP344 and other applicable laws; structural evaluation/validation of submitted structural designs; and cost effectiveness based on the resulting construction as compared with housing units built with conventional building technologies.
