POBLACION and Cansojong booked their spots in the championship round of the Seniors division of the 2019 Talisay City Mayor’s Cup as they knocked off their respective opponents in the semifinals on Sunday night, September 29, at the Talisay City Sports Complex.
Poblacion took out Lawaan 3, 108-89, thanks to a huge fourth period run that turned an otherwise close game into a lopsided rout. Jess Cabisas flirted with a triple-double as he piled up 25 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, four steals and two blocks to lead Poblacion to within a win away from claiming the Seniors title.
Allan del Rosario and Rovan Kadenas also did their part as they scored 23 and 20 points, respectively, while big man Bryan Gerali added 18 markers.
Standing opposite Poblacion in the finals on Tuesday, October 1, will be Cansojong, which ousted Tangke, 99-74, in the other semis pairing.
Kim Trigue did it all for Cansojong as he tallied 26 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, four steals and two blocked shots. Cansojong sealed the win with a massive 30-13 run in the final canto. (SunStar Cebu)
