MIPASAKA og balaod si House Deputy Speaker Mikee Romero (1 Pacman Partylist) nga nagdili sa mga tunghaan sa nagkadaiyang collegiate leagues sa pagkuha og mga langyaw nga estudiyanteng atleta.
Gipasabot ni Romero nga kining maong binuhatan naghikaw og oportunidad sa ubang mga Pinoy nga student-athletes nga makahashas og insakto sa ilang tagsatagsa ka abilidad.
Nagkanayon si Romero nga ang pagkuha og langyaw nga student-athletes mao nay naandan sa college leagues sa tibuok nasod gikan sa UAAP ug NCAA sa kaulohan.
Alang kang Romero, nakapusgay kini sa tiunay nga kahulogan sa balanse ug makiangayong kompetisyon.
Sa House Resolution No. 388 nga iyang gipasaka, si Romero miingon: “I am urging the proper committee of the House of Representatives in aid of legislation to stop and prohibit all collegiate leagues from recruiting, acquiring and using non-Filipinos as players because in effect, it stops the growth and shortchanges the development of various sports programs in the Philippines.”
Matod ni Romero, kinsa maoy tag-iya sa NorthPort Batang Pier squad sa Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), nga kon padayong tugtan ang mga langyaw nga makaduwa, nakabintaha og dako niini ang mga tunghaan nga adunay mas dakong pundo.
“Lest I’ll be accused of being some kind of a killjoy, I am doing this for the good of Philippine basketball. The crushing defeats we suffered in the recent Fiba World Cup has forced me to make this resolution,” pasabot ni Romero.
