REPRESENTATIVES from the suspended Salugpungan Ta'tanu Igkanugon Community (Salugpungan) can raise their concerns with Department of Education Secretary Leonor Briones if they will not be convinced of the result of the investigation, an official said.

DepEd Davao regional office spokesperson Jenielito Atillo on Monday, September 30, said that although the result of the investigation has not yet been disclosed, the Salugpungan could raise the matter to the national office.

"If they are not happy with the order, they will be given the opportunity to elevate the matter to the office of Secretary Briones," Atillo said.

"Kutob ra man gud sa regional office ang jurisdiction sa result sa investigation (The jurisdiction of the result is limited within the regional office)," Atillo added.

Atillo earlier said the result of their investigation will be publicized before the end of September this year.

He said the result of the investigation over the suspension of Salugpungan has already been completed after almost two months. But he said the "finality" of its release has yet to be determined.

He admitted he is not aware of the content of the result, but he said DepEd assured that "all side from different parties were taken into account".

DepEd 11, on July this year, issued a suspension order to all Salugpungan schools and its affiliates after reviewing the reports from National Security Adviser Secretary Hermogenes Esperon, Jr. and the vice chair of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, that Salugpungan has been using students in rallies and teaching them ideologies against the government.

Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, meanwhile, said on Monday, that she is calling for the immediate closure of 11 Salugpungan schools in the city, accusing its backers of "deceptive acts and practices."

Duterte-Carpio said the City Government filed a resolution, through the City Peace and Order Council (CPOC), asking the Deped to completely terminate and cancel the permit to operate of all Salugpungan schools in the city.

But Atillo said he has not yet received any resolution from the CPOC.

But he said the mayor's statement will not affect the result of the investigation and that they will release it soonest.
