AFTER going undefeated at the end of the elimination round, Berkeley School and Lucban Elementary School leads the semifinal cast in the Baguio leg of the Milo Best twin tournament.

Defending champion Berkeley completed a sweep in the first round with 3 – 0 win loss record to top bracket A in the SBP division while Lucban also topped bracket B as they head into the semis.

In the passerelle division, UB Science High School and defending champion Saint Louis University Laboratory High School (SLU – LHS) finished the elimination round with an identical 5 – 1 record and will lead the semi finals.

Completing the semis cast in the passerelle division are Baguio City National High School (4-2) and Berkeley (4-2) while the SBP semi – finalists are SLU – Laboratory Elem. School (2-1) and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel (2-1).

Berkeley guns for another seat in the finals against fourth seeded Mt. Carmel at 8:00 am on October 6 while Lucban takes on SLU LES in the other semis pairing in the SBP division.

SLU – LHS meanwhile takes on Berkeley while UB squares off against BCNHS in the passerelle division also on October 6. All games will be played at the Easter College gym.

For more than 30 years, the SBP/Passerelle Twin Tournament provides an avenue for young cagers to apply what they learned from basketball trainings and showcase their skills in the court.

Aside from the Baguio games, elimination matches will also be held in other areas of Luzon, the National Capital Region, Visayas and Mindanao to determine which teams will qualify for the regional championships.

Top teams from each region will battle it out in the national finals.

The tournament features unique rules wherein a team must field a new set of five players for each for the first three periods and the coach may then play any combination he wishes for the final canto, thus guaranteeing each player a minimum of 10 minutes of court time.

SBP is for players aged nine to 11 while passerelle is for 12 to 14 year old and was conceived in order to act as a bridge between the SBP and the Juniors Division for players 18 and under.

The tournament is also a perfect opportunity for MILO BEST Center students to apply what they have learned during the summer sports clinic founded by Coach Nic Jorge.
