THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental has inaugurated the Caridad I Meatshop and Frozen Products, a small livelihood project at the public market of Cadiz City.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson led the inauguration of the project, which is funded by the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) of the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Provincial Government, on Tuesday, October 1, 2019.

The members of Caridad Hog Raisers Association, who are backyard swine raisers, will manage the project.

They will also sell their own product at the meatshop thereby generating more income for the association.

The livelihood project was also realized through the Provincial Veterinary Office and the Alliance of Hog Raisers Associations of Negros Occidental (Ahrano).

Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr., who was also present at the inauguration, thanked the constituents for their support to the programs of the government.

"The City Government is always doing its best to serve the public," he added.

The governor, for his part, urged the members to unite and work together for the improvement of the association.

Lacson underscored the importance of integrity of the officers and cooperation of the members in creating a sustainable livelihood project.

He added that "PRDP is willing to fund more livelihood projects for them provided they show how deserving they are to be the beneficiaries."

Also present in the activity were Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator and Provincial Project Management and Implementation Unit head Ma. Lina Sanogal, Engineer Albert Barrogo of DA - Region VI and assistant head Narissa Lemoncito, and Cadiz City Veterinarian Josue Rabang, among others. (PR)
