Road closure for MassKara Festival

THE Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) in Bacolod City will implement a road closure at the downtown area during the 40th MassKara Festival from October 7 to 27.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Luisito Acebuche said Wednesday, October 2, that the closure at the downtown area will start from Rizal-Gatuslao streets to Gonzaga-San Juan streets from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. of the following day.

He said about 70 traffic enforcers will be deployed in the downtown area to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.

In the opening of the MassKara Festival on October 7, Acebuche added that there will be a designated parking area at the back of the Bacolod Public Plaza.

On October 25 to 26, a traffic rerouting will also be implemented at the downtown area.

Acebuche said the southbound public utility vehicles (PUVs) from Araneta Street will take a right turn to Roxas Stree, then right turn to Lacson Street and another right turn to Magsaysay Street, then left turn to Araneta Street all the way to point of destination.

The southeast-bound PUVs from Hernaez Avenue will take a right turn to Gatuslao Street, from Barangay Taculing take a left turn to Hernaez Street, then right turn to Luzuriaga Street, another right turn to Mabini Street, then left turn to Margarita Street, another left turn to Lopez-Jaena Street, then right turn to Hernaez Street all the way to point of destination.

The northbound PUVs from point of origin should take a right turn to Burgos Street, then take a left turn to Palanca Street, another left turn to Luzuriaga Street, then take a right turn to Alunan Extension, right turn to Capitana Dicang Road, left turn to Roxas Street, then another left turn to Lacson Street, then right turn to Lizares Street all the way to Hernaez Street, then take a left turn going to Locsin Street, then take left turn to Rizal Street, right turn to Gatuslao Street, another right turn going to North Capitol Road, then left turn to Aguinaldo Street, right turn to BS Aquino Drive, and left turn to Lacson Street all the way to point of destination.

The eastbound PUVs from point of origin via Burgos Street shall take a left turn to Lacson Street, then right turn to Gonzaga Street, another right turn to Locsin Street and Galo Street, then left turn to BBB Street, and then take a right to Burgos Street all the way to point of destination.

Acebuche said a road closure will also be implemented at the Fererro Street in the Bacolod Vendors Plaza.

He said on October 25 to 27, a road closure will also be implemented at the Tourism Street along Lacson Street and a one-way traffic scheme will be implemented at Gatuslao and Aguinaldo streets.

He added that from October 7 to 27, a one-way traffic scheme will be implemented in Villa Angela and Helvetia streets with a total 84 traffic enforcers will be deployed.

BTAO will also implement the truck ban at the Circumferential Road. From October 7 to 27, a total of 390 traffic enforcers as well as the barangays force multipliers.

The BTAO chief also asked the cooperation of the drivers and commuters to follow the traffic rerouting to avoid inconvenience.
