IF ANYONE needed any more proof of Cebuano giant June Mar Fajardo’s commitment to winning and disinterest in any of his individual achievements, consider this: the reigning PBA MVP did not even know he had reached the 6,000-point milestone until two days after the fact.

The University of Cebu product reached the mark on Sunday, September 29, 2019 after scoring 10 points in their 109-83 rout of the Alaska Aces in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex in Laguna. However, the pride of Pinamungahan sheepishly admitted in an interview with SunStar Cebu that he had no idea he had accomplished feat until Tuesday, October 1.

“I only knew of the 6,000 points yesterday. I did not expect that,” said Fajardo in a conversation as he and the rest of his San Miguel teammates were getting ready to board a flight to Dubai where they would be facing off against NLEX on Friday, October 4, at the Coca-Cola Arena.

Fajardo added that while he never expected his career to reach such heights, he did expect to improve because of how hard he worked on his game.

“I never expected to reach that milestone. All I ever expected was to improve because I really took practice seriously,” relayed Fajardo.

He also gave credit to his teammates and the chemistry he has with all of them for the success in his career.

“I’m just lucky to be in San Miguel where I have great teammates who I have played with for such a long time,” Fajardo added.

Cebuanos will get to see Fajardo and the rest of the Beermen up close and personal on November 9 when they take on the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City.
