5 nabbed, P54-K shabu seized in anti-drug stings

POLICE have arrested five individuals, including a former Navy officer, and seized some P54,900 worth of illegal drugs in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga City.

Those arrested were Ramil Guiroy, former Navy officer; Leonard Odon, 38; Robert Eudela, 32, watch technician; Arnel Posadas, 45, beautician; and Karen Espinosa, 40.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said Guiroy was caught in possession of some P21,400 worth of suspected shabu and P1,000 marked money when arrested Tuesday, October 1, at a motel in Barangay Canelar.

Odon and Eudela were arrested in a buy-bust operation around 10:50 p.m. Wednesday in the village of Guiwan. Galvez said P30,000 worth of suspected shabu and P500 marked money were confiscated from them.

Posadas and Espinosa were arrested in a buy-bust operation around 1:20 p.m. Wednesday in Sitio Waray in Tetuan. Seized from them were P3,500 worth of suspected shabu and P500 marked money.

Galvez said the suspects were detained while appropriate charges are being prepared against them. (SunStar Philippines)
