THE price of durian at Bangkerohan Public Market dropped, while the prices of rambutan and lanzones increased compared to last week.

In the latest price monitoring on Thursday, October 3, durian's price dipped by almost half as it can now be bought at around P50 to P70 per kilo compared to P100 per kilo last week.

It can be recalled, however, that durian's price during the Kadayawan month even plunged to around P25 to P40 per kilo.

Meanwhile, the prices of rambutan and lanzones are up by about P10 to P20 per kilo from last week. The current price of rambutan is at P50 to P60 per kilo from P40 per kilo.

Lanzones also has significantly increased its price by about P20 to P30 from the previous week as it currently pegged about P50 to P100 per kilo from P30 to P80 per kilo.

Pomelo, on the other hand, retained its price of P80 per kilo since a week ago.

For the price of durian, a fruit vendor said the King of Fruits has increased in supply causing the price to drop.

"Daghan na og harvest ang durian maong nibarato na," said Bobong Maloy.

Other fruit vendors said the spike on the prices of rambutan and lanzones is because they are now on off-peak.
