Oro's Barangay 35 hall destroyed

THE City Government's composite team led the demolition of a barangay hall that has been encroaching the sidewalk in Cagayan de Oro City.

Antonio Resma, the composite team's spokesperson, said Barangay 35's whole barangay hall structure was destroyed as it stands on an area intended for public use.

Resma said there was however no resistance from the barangay officials, as they willingly obliged to destroy the structure themselves.

Since the team started its operation, he said they have already destroyed several government properties, such as material recovery facilities and barangay outposts.

Meanwhile, the barangay officials will resume their operations in a temporary barangay hall within the village's vicinity.

The City Government is continuing its clearing operations even after the September 30 deadline.

The 60-day deadline started on July 29 after the Department of the Interior and Local Government mandated all local executives to clear the streets of obstructions.

Mayors and other local officials may face administrative charges, including dereliction of duty and negligence if they fail to achieve significant results in the road- clearing operations within the time period.
