THE Cebu Sharks-Casino Ethyl Alcohol ripped the Soccsksargen Marlins apart, 89-57, to get their sixth win in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Season at the Strike Gym in Bacoor, Cavite on Friday night, Oct. 4, 2019.

The Sharks got a monster performance from their ace big man William McAloney, who made mincemeat out of the defense of the Marlins to tally 27 points, 17 rebounds, three steals and two blocks and help Cebu improve to 6-9 (win-loss).

Afterwards, the University of San Carlos product said he only focused on doing his job and that was to assert himself in the shaded lane by grabbing rebounds. Everything else was just a bonus.

“I just did my job. I did my best to help the team, especially on the glass. The points were just a bonus. I was just lucky,” said McAloney.

Ranged against a Marlins squad that has yet to enter the win column all season long, the Sharks took full advantage and zoomed off to a 35-17 lead at halftime. Sensing blood in the water, Cebu went for the kill in the third and outscored Soccsksargen, 24-15, to raise their advantage to a whopping 32 points, 89-57, heading to the last period.

Michael Cenita and Kevin Villafranca came off the bench and scored 13 and 10 points, respectively, for Cebu. Veteran point guard Harold Cortes also had a stellar ballgame as he almost got a triple-double with eight points, nine rebounds and seven assists to go with five steals.

The road towards a playoff berth gets tougher for Cebu as it faces Bacoor on Oct. 10 on the latter’s homecourt.
