British national, Filipina wife abducted in Zamboanga del Sur

AT LEAST six unidentified armed men are involved in the abduction of a British national and his Filipina wife from a resort they own in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police disclosed Saturday, October 5.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office (PRO)-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said the incident happened around 6:50 p.m. Friday, October 4, in the village of Alindahaw, Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur.

Galvez identified the victims as Allan Hyrons, 70, and his Filipina wife, Wilma. They were kidnapped in Hyrons Resort.

Galvez said that four of the six suspects captured the couple, who arrived at the resort and dragged the two to the beach front where other two armed men were waiting on two motorboats.

She said the couple were then forced to board in one of the two motorboats that sped off on two different directions. One of the motorboats sped towards Lanao, while the other headed for Pagadian City, the capital of Zamboanga del Sur.

Galvez added that further investigation showed two of the six suspects have checked-in at the resort before the incident.

She said the PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula has mobilized its forces and has coordinated with the military to include the Moro Islamic Liberation

Front (MILF) to help in the rescue of the couple. (SunStar Philippines)
