SILA ang unang nakapahimulos sa medical scholarship grant nga gitanyag sa lokal nga gobyerno sa Davao.
Karon nga sila mga full-pledge doctors na ug mipasar na sab sa Physician Licensure Examination niadtong Septyembre, buot nilang motabang ngadto sa nanginahanglan.
Usa sa malampusong iskolar, ang Subanen lumad nga si Jenny Adtoon.
Sumala niya nga buot niyang magsilbi sa mga tawo sa Davao City isip pagpakita og pasalamat sa oportunidad nga paghatag kaniya sa medical scholarship program ilawom sa Educational Benefits System Unit (EBSU) sa lokal nga gobyerno sa dakbayan.
Matud niya, dili unta niya mahuman ang uwahing duha ka tuig niya sa medical school kun di tungod sa scholarship grant.
“I want to serve the government and the people of Davao. Had it not been for the opportunity given to me, it would have been more difficult for me to finish medicine,” sumala niya.
Iyaha sab nga gihinumdum ang kalisud nga gisagubang aron lang malabang ang pagtungha tungod sab sa kamahal sa mga balayrunon ug gastuhon sa eskwelahan.
“The people around would know how difficult it was for me. But the same difficulty made me strong,” suma niya.
“And I am extremely thankful for the opportunity given to me by the City Government of Davao.”
Sama ni Adtoon, usa ka lumad gikan sa tribung Bagobo nga si Jeannie Marie Salmasan, mapasalamaton sa maong ayuda.
“I don’t think I would be able to take medicine had it not been for the grant. My parents could not afford to send me to a medical school. For my entire medical education, EBSU has financially assisted me.”
Suma ni Salmasan nga buot niyang moserbisyo sa katawhan sa Paquibato.
“I used to work in Paquibao and I promised myself and the people that should I make it, I will serve the community. It would be a wonderful opportunity to serve the people of Paquibato District.”
Isip usa ka lumad, ang pagsilbi sa komunidad sa lumad alang niya usa ka personal nga misyon.
“I come from the Bagobo tribe, and the biggest thing that I could contribute to the government is to help the tribe,” pahayag niya.
Laing mipasar nga si Irvin Paul Parada ang mapasalamaton sab nga siya usa sab sa mga iskolar.
Ang scholarship mo-cover sa tuition ug tinuig nga cash allowance nga P20,000 alang sa libro ug ubang panginahanglanon sa tunghaan.
Inahan sa siyam ka bulan nga anak, si Adtoon namahayag nga ang kalisud nga gi-atubang wala makapugong kaniya nga angkunon ang damgo nga mahimong doktor.
Alang sab ni Salmasan, ang sama niyang puno sa pangandoy dili mo-undang sa pagkab-ot sa mga damgo sa kinabuhi.
“If it is their dream, they must pursue it excellently, giving their best in everything,” sigun niya.
Sukad 2016, ang administrasyon sa siyudad mihatag og suporta sa 50 ka medicine students.
Sa kasamtangan, may 1,904 ka EBSU scholars nga nagkuha sa nagkadaiyang kurso sa lain-laing kolehiyo ug unibersidad sa Davao City. (PR)
