8 juvenile escapees ‘want to surrender’

FOLLOWING the surrender of three children in conflict with the law (CICL) on Saturday night, Oct. 5, 2019, a Cebu City official said they expect the eight other escapees to return to the Operation Second Chance (OSC) Center in Barangay Kalunasan any time.

City Councilor Dave Tumulak, chairman of the City Council’s peace and order committee, said they received feelers that some of the escapees plan to surrender.

As of Sunday, Oct. 5, eight CICLs remained at large after 30 residents of the facility for juvenile offenders bolted their quarters late Friday night, Oct. 4, amid heavy rains.

Of the 30, 10 were caught at the second gate of the center while nine others were caught by personnel of the center outside the facility.

Tumulak urged the parents of the eight CICL who remain in hiding to convince their children to go back to the center to avoid facing other charges.

The OSC Center is owned and managed by the Cebu City Government. (FROM PAC OF SUPERBALITA CEBU / LRC)
