THE 1990-Bayfront ran its remarkable winning run to eight games after it crushed the 1994-Vivant Corenergy, by 49 points, 93-44, in Division A of the Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) Cebu Landmasters Cup at the Magis Eagles Arena on Sunday, October 6, 2019.
Regan King put on a regal performance as he scored 28 points to lead Batch 1990 to the easy victory. Theogene Lim added 13 points and 13 rebounds while Joel Co took a backseat but still hauled down a massive 25 rebounds and dished out 13 assists.
More importantly, the win pushed 1990’s win-loss record to 10-2, to keep them ahead of the 1999-AutoLAB which won over the 1996-FWD Insurance, 80-62. Jeremy Huang scored 20 while big man Robert Gilo had 17 points and 23 rebounds in the team’s ninth win in 11 games.
The 1998-GEF Incorporated/FWD Insurance also won over the 1989-ChickPhil, 57-45.
In Division B, Batch 2004 stayed ahead of the pack with a 69-53 victory over the 2006-Laptap Enterprises/Prince Warehouse. Franco Te led the charge with 18 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, six steals and two blocks as their team improved to 10-1.
The 2005-Bizol also picked up a 76-75 win over the 2007-Topline Ferries as Elddie Cabahug and Antonio Datan did the most damage to the latter’s defense. Cabahug had 28 points while Datan produced 18 points and 18 rebounds to help 2005 improve to 8-3.
Over in Division C, the 2013-iPak/Roble Shipping kept the lead in the standings with a 53-48 win over the 2015-StorageTown. Rendell Senining scored 23 points and added five rebounds, two assists and three steals to give 2013 its tenth win in 12 outings.
The 2011-Chioson Development Corp. also tripped the 2009-CrossFit Subtero, 72-67, thanks to Franz Pacheco’s 20 points and 10 rebounds. (SunStar Cebu)
