AN OFFICIAL of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Northern Mindanao urged subdivision owners to do background checking before accepting a client.
This came after an alleged leader of a criminal group who was killed last week in a raid was found to be living inside a posh subdivision in Barangay Lumbia for months now.
CIDG-Northern Mindanao Chief Raymund Liguden advised owners to properly screen possible tenants.
"Kung ang banking institutions may know your client procedure, marapat mag-conduct ng background check doon sa mga ka deal ko in the same manner sa business dealings natin," Liguden said.
"Dito sa Mindanao, maraming investment scams, up to 400 percent interest for just a period of days, tama ba yun? Let us know thoroughly siguro sino yung kadeal natin yung background para sa ating kaligtasan din," he added.
While subdivision owners will not be held liable, Liguden said it is the duty of owners to practice due diligence.
"As to if they can be held liable, wala pa naman siguro unless they can be participant of a criminal activity. Kapag wala namang ginagawang masama yung mga nakikita nating tao, ang tendency trusting na tayo," he said.
On Thursday last week, October 3, alleged notorious leader of a criminal group Marvin Fajardo and his companions, Andrew Redondo and a certain Adrian, were killed after they traded shots with authorities who were serving a warrant of arrest inside Fajardo's residence.
