FILIPINO singer, songwriter, music director, film scorer and television host Rey Valera and seasoned songster Dulce seized the night away in their superb performance in the "Tawag ng Bacolod" concert held at SMX Convention Center on October 6, 2019, a day before the 40th MassKara festival Ruby edition open in the City of Smiles.

Organizers of the event succeeded in bringing the country's popular performers as their fans coming from varied ages admired and appreciated their respective performances during the concert.

Valera and Dulce were among the "Showtime's Tawag ng Tanghalan" judges where the televiewers regularly watch them every day.

Valera vocalized his popular and greatest Tagalog hit songs (to name a few) "Kung Kailangan mo Ako, Malayo pa and Umaga," among other hit songs he wrote and composed.

"But it's good that the people never get tired of my songs. We lasted this long in our career, not because of us, but because of you, our fans, who have unceasingly supported our career," he said.

The Balladeer also shared to his audience his life's ups and downs when he was wrongfully accused when a sham unfairly used his identity, the reason why he faced several cases in court.

Given the soft-spoken, light personality and innocence of Valera, he turned triumphant, thus his career continued to prosper.

Valera during his performance sang with his guitar on and did some acting in between, as he shared with his audience that when he stopped singing because of the said legal issues, he reduced himself to becoming a film scorer, purposely meant to hide his existence while his cases were being heard. But what is more important then was he still earns a living to sustain the needs of his family.

He also recalled his fond memories with his good friend, the late Rico J. Puno where his enthusiasts also enjoyed listening.

On the other hand, Dulce hooked her audience to her powerful voice, with her popular songs "Ako ang nag Wagi," "Maala-ala mo Kaya" and other Original Pilipino Music (OPM) music and some upbeat songs.

"Tawag ng Bacolod" is a benefit concert at the SMX Convention Center. It was presented by TOPher Entertainment Production and co-presented by Fernando's Bakery in association with The Triskelion de Bacolod Unified Council for the benefit of St. Vincent's Home Inc.
