BARILI and Balamban came away with wins in the basketball tournament of the 2019 Congressman Pablo John Garcia (PJ) Cup at the Balamban Sports Complex on Sunday, October 6, 2019.
Barili routed Aloguinsan, 82-63, while Balamban nicked Toledo City, 70-68.
In the volleyball tournament, Aloguinsan won over Barili, 2-0, while Balamban outlasted Toledo City in three sets, 2-1.
The tournament was opened the previous day over in Pinamungahan with Governor Gwen Garcia, and her younger brother, Cebu 3rd District Representative, Pablo John Garcia, gracing the affair.
There are seven participating teams in the tournament that dangled P200,000 for the champion and P150,000 and P100,000 for the runners-up. No team would be going home empty-handed as consolation prizes of P60,000 are awarded to each team.
The elimination round was a single round-robin affair with the top four advancing to the crossover semifinals. The finals and the third place games are winner-take-all affairs. (JNP)
