A quiet escape from the city

DAVAO City has slowly become a hustling and bustling city. While it retains the charm of a laid back city in some days, we cannot help but stress over how crazy things are lately.

I am just as busy as many Dabawenyos are. At the end of the week, I just want to take a rest and enjoy my day-off.

On September 12 to 13, I was billeted at a RedDoorz partner in Guadalupe Village, Davao City.

RedDoorz, a hotel management and booking company based in Singapore, has been rapidly expanding its presence around the country by partnering with small and unbranded hotels and inns. The firm standardizes the services and amenities across its partner hotels. Here in Davao City, they have over 20 hotel partners, with the bulk of it being in the downtown area.

Be-ing Suites, the RedDoorz partner where I am staying, is a charming boutique hotel inside the village. The location is nice in the sense that it can be very quiet, which is perfect for someone looking for a quiet escape after a hectic week. On the other hand, while it is near Damosa Gateway, Azuela Cove, SM Lanang Premier, and Phoenix Lanang, it is not easy to get a ride going in or out of the area.

I loved the boutique hotel we are staying at. It has a resort vibe within the confines of the city. I find the place to be very airy too.

For my overnight stay here, I stayed at the very spacious deluxe room on the second floor. What I love about being on this floor is it gives me a nice view of the hotel's courtyard, the pool, and also the facade of the hotel. The moment you enter the room, you are greeted with a big queen-sized bed. I liked that it has three soft pillows.

The room also has a desk near the entrance with the television above. There is also a coffee table with two chairs across the desk.

On the bed was a RedDoorz amenity pouch, which includes a dental kit, comb,

cotton buds, and a sanitary bag.

Beside the bed is a door leading to the closet, pantry, bathroom, and toilet. The pantry has a mini-fridge and kitchen counter with a sink. The bathroom has a toilet with a bidet and a solar water heater.

According to RedDoorz, if you book a room at their hotel partners, one of the amenities you will get is complimentary bottled water. However, in the case of RedDoorz Be-ing Suites, they have a pitcher at the room and you can just get water at the dispenser near the staircase.

After exploring my room, I went on to explore the boutique hotel.

Along the rails of the open area on the second floor are some chairs and tables where you can lounge in the evening. I spent a few moments lounging in the area while enjoying the cool breeze.

There are also a few rooms on the third floor or roof deck of the hotel. There are also two rooms on this floor. During our stay here, RedDoorz held a media and bloggers party on the roof deck.

When I got back to my room, I decided to check out the hotel's WiFi. A quick speed test check on the internet showed that the WiFi package of the hotel has a download speed of 0.58 Mbps and an upload speed of 0.33 Mbps. It was pretty slow but good enough to send some emails and surf the internet on the phone.

I had a really good sleep that night. It was quiet and I find the bed and pillows to be comfortable to sleep on.

In the morning, I had breakfast at the hotel's cafe on the first floor. They do not have a breakfast buffet here; instead, it is a la carte.

I ordered the tocino and meatloaf with rice and a sunny-side-up egg. I also ordered hot chocolate. The breakfast was good overall. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, which tasted good. However, the hot chocolate was too diluted.

However, I was not fully able to experience the kind of service they have. But with the short stay here, I can say that the service was quite nice. The staff was accommodating and friendly.

I had a pleasant stay at RedDoorz Be-ing Suites. I find the deluxe room to be quite comfortable. If you are looking for a quiet escape from the city but still want to be within the downtown area, this RedDoorz hotel partner is just right for you. Being part of the RedDoorz network, you can also be assured of a comfortable stay that is also affordably priced.

To book a room here, you can download the RedDoorz app on your smartphones or visit their website.
